Berdirinya GKJ Margoyudan diawali dari persekutuan yang dipimpin oleh Dr.J.G Scheurer, seorang dokter utusan Zending. Seiring perkembangannya pada 13 April 1916, diadakan pemilihan anggota Majelis yang pertama. Maka pada hari Minggu 30 April 1916 diresmikan terbentuknya majelis dan berdirinya Gereja Keristen Jawa Margoyudan. Arsitektur bangunan gereja ini masih kental dengan sentuhan Belanda kuno, mengingat pembangunan gereja ini didirakan oleh arsitek Belanda dan kelestariannya yang masih terjaga.

COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN CHURCH (GKJ) OF MARGOYUDAN

This church is the oldest Javanese Christian church in Surakarta. The founding of GKJ Margoyudan begun with the alliance formation led by Dr.G.J Scheurer, a Zending’s delegation doctor. Along with the development in April 13^th, 1916, held the selection of  first council member. So, in  Sunday April 30^th, 1916, announced the formation of the council and the establishment of Margoyudan Javanese Christian Church. The original building is still sturdy with wooden roof and specific architecture of Javanese buildings.
